Lesson of the Day

29 Nov 2014, Saturday

This morning, while I was busy preparing breakfast after sending my sisters to campus, I got a text from Michelle, her grandma just passed away this morning and she was on her way back to Kuching, all the way from Malacca. Not longer after that, my brother told me that 公公 (Grandpa) was admitted to hospital for the second time. Such a blue morning but I had faith that it must be a blessing in disguise.

Then, we went to visit Michelle at her Grandma’s place to pay her Grandma the last respect before she ascended into heaven. Beside that, we had another less shocking news but it was not a good one too, Kenny got into an accident. He crashed his friend’s Myvi into another vehicle in front of him at the highway. Thank God that he got no injury at all but the car bumper seems pretty wrecked.

After attending the sunset Mass at Holy Trinity Church, my sisters and I went to the Sarawak General Hospital to visit my 公公. Unfortunately, the visiting hours were over and only one visitor was allowed to visit each patient. Same 7th floor, male surgical ward, bed #27,  公公 was there, taking a rest on the bed and about to take a nap, I guessed. I asked did the doctor show him the result of the previous blood test yet and then 公公 said they asked him to stay on the ward for another treatment since they have another specialist from Singapore coming over. We chatted for awhile and then I realized that the reason that 公公  did not choose the surgical option previously when 公公 was diagnosed with first stage of liver cancer and chose the chemotherapy treatment instead because 公公 did not want to troublesome us. 公公 might need to stay at the hospital longer because of that. 公公  went back home for about a couple weeks after the chemotherapy treatment.  公公  lost appetite since then and got a bit weaker. 公公  told me that after weeks of putting so much thought into this. 公公 was less emotional and depressed than before and his appetite got better. Yeah!  It was good! 公公 is more positive now and currently waiting for his radiotherapy treatment. 公公 , get better sooner alright?  I began to realize that most elderly people are more kind towards each other, filled with much gratitude, genuine smile and peaceful personality. Hence, we should be attentive listener especially for the elders, it meant a lot for them. I believe they appreciate it very much and we definitely can learn a lot from them too. We have seen many people pray, cry, kiss and dreaming in their sleep or just plain daydreaming. They close their eyes, don’t they? Why? Because the most beautiful things in life are not seen, but felt from the heart.

Because the most beautiful things in life are not seen, but felt from the heart.

So the lesson of the day are, we gotta be grateful every single day, counts your blessings- first thing in the morning, cherish every moment possible, make the best of every second we have, especially with families and friends, we do not know when they gonna leave us to meet the Father above.

Make the best of every second we had, especially with our beloved family members and dear friends!
